April 13, 2007 - Raceway Rendezvous
CARA Charities’ Raceway Rendezvous, the third annual edition of fun, food, entertainment and raising money for charities was held during the Long Beach Grand Prix weekend. On Friday, April 13, “Castaways of G-Forces Island” hit the high seas for a three hour tour with a unique party on Hornblower’s SS Endless Dreams. The ship cruised through Long Beach Harbor while featuring an on-board casino night with celebrity guests including the “crew” from Gilligan’s Island. There were live and silent auctions, coconut bowling and other lively activities. This year’s event was guest hosted by team owner, race car driver, and long time CARA supporter, Adrian Fernandez. Kelly Clancy was Chairperson for this year’s event. She and her committee raised money for CARA’s Buckle Up Baby program, Painted Turtle Hole in the Wall Camp, Long Beach Grand Prix Foundation and ALMS Grid Kids program.
May 24, 2007 - CARA Indy Fashion Show/Luncheon
The 26th annual edition of the CARA Indy Fashion Show was highlighted by our new fashion show partner, Saks Fifth Avenue and an exciting new format. The downtown Westin served as a spectacular backdrop for this year’s affair that opened with the social hour and silent auction at 10:30 AM.
As the ballroom doors opened at 11:30 AM, the guests were met with an all new look for the packed ballroom. As the fashion show began this year’s honorary chairperson. Helio Castroneves, delighted the audience with his version of “Fashion, Spirit and Speed”. He and honored guests, Lynne St. James and Janet Guthrie started the show. The fashions were indeed spectacular as Saks brought not only fabulous couture fashions from New York, but professional runway models as well. Many Indy 500 drivers participated along with local celebrities and their families. When the luncheon began more excitement followed with a live auction, and announcement of Raffle and Door Prize winners. Ellen Greenleaf chaired the 26th annual event to raise money for CARA Charities’ Shirley Bettenhausen Children’s Fund at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis and the Buckle Up Baby program that provides local hospitals on the racing circuit with funds to provide infant car seats for families who are unable to afford them.
May 24, 2007 - Annual Christmas Ornament
Kickoff for this fund raising project was at the CARA Fashion Show/Luncheon. Each year a driver or team owner has designed an original ornament for CARA Charities to sell. This year’s ornament was designed by three time Champ Car Champion Sebastien Bourdais.
August 10, 2007 - Taste of Champ Car at Road America
The new edition of CARA Charities’ festival of food will take place at Road America when many of the top chef’s on the Champ Car circuit participate in the popular event. Join Champ car drivers, owners, engineers and teams in the paddock for food that is as spectacular as the competition on the track. Tickets are $50 and available through the CARA office. Daryle Feistman is chairperson for this event.
September 7, 2007 - Concourse de Elegance at Chicagoland
Come join us for CARA Charities’ newest event to be held at the beautiful Autobahn Country Club in Joliet. After a day of IRL racing at Chicagoland Raceway, join us for an event that promises to be a fun filled evening. There will be classic cars, rides around the race circuit with your favorite drivers, an auction of the best in racing memorabilia, great Chicago style barbeque, and loads of surprises. Dianne Patty is chair of this event. |
