Indianapolis, IN  May 31, 2007 – If it was a headline in VARIETY, it would have read, “Fashion Show Attracts Stars and Celebrities and Plays to Boffo Reviews for Best Cause.”  “We had over 800 people at the 26th annual CARA Fashion Show in Indianapolis last Thursday,” noted Ellen Greenleaf, the show’s General Chairman. “The CARA office has received so many letters, phone calls and e-mails about how wonderful the show was this year and how everyone looks forward to either
joining the 2008 committee or attending next year’s show. A special thanks to community chairwomen Marlyne Sexton and to Mel and Bren Simon for their dedication to the excellence of the event. Our hats are off to Saks Fifth Avenue for producing such a fun, interesting and captivating affair.

“One of our goals this year has been to step everything up to a higher level,” said Vicki Faivre, CARA President. “People kept stopping us over the weekend and saying that they have been going for years, but this year’s show was the best show ever.  Our Fashion Show Committee did such a great job. This is our signature event for the year and Saks made it an event unlike any other during the year in Indianapolis. We had a great cross section of local dignitaries, celebrities and Indy
500 drivers supporting CARA Charities.  Like an Oscar acceptance speech, it is impossible to thank everyone, but a special thanks to Helio Castroneves, our Honorary Chairperson, Garry Navarre, General Manager, Indianapolis Saks Fifth Avenue, and racing legends Janet Guthrie and Lyn St. James for their invaluable help.”

The show’s proceeds will go to CARA’s Shirley Bettenhausen Children’s Fund at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, CARA’s  Buckle Up Baby car seat program in partnership with the  Bridgestone/Firestone Trust.  Methodist Hospital will be using the funds to help upgrade equipment in its pediatric unit.  In addition, the Michael Andretti Foundation will be donating the funds that were raised at its annual Indy 500 Breakfast to CARA’s local pediatric charities.  “The race
community and the local community come together once a year for this unique event and make a direct difference in so many peoples lives,” observed Mary Lou Bogner, Executive Director of CARA Charities. “With the help of all of our supporters, we look forward to bringing these two communities together again next year and producing another memorable and productive show.”

Entering their second quarter century of giving, CARA is a leading motorsports charity that has donated more than $4 million dollars to dozens of philanthropic causes helping children, hospitals, scholarships funds, ministries and numerous charity foundations.
